Today is the day! The first day of the 2021 Cinnamon Spice Quilt Along! For week 1, we are picking our fabrics! Of course I love to sew, but picking fabrics is sometimes the best part for me! Let’s talk about the pattern and the various colorways!
There are 2 versions of the Cinnamon Spice Quilt Pattern – a two-tone version and a scrappy version.
The two tone version allows for a striking contrast! One of my testers, Emily at Cutting Bolts created a beautiful solid version! So maybe you can pick your 2 favorite solids and you’re ready to go! Also, Lilia at Elegante Virgule tested the pattern and created this beautiful two-tone version with Rifle Paper Co. Garden Party and a deep navy solid. She also has kits available! So I encourage you to be creative if the two tone version speaks to you!
I like to think of the scrappy version as a “controlled scrappy”. I just made that phrase up, but I like the sound of it! By using a variety of fat quarters and the 4 at a time method for making flying geese, you are able to achieve a scrappy look without the stress or fabric placement! Whether you are sewing from your stash or you are buying a new fabric bundle, the pattern walks you through how to achieve a scrappy look.

The Cinnamon Spice quilt along will last 5 weeks. The pattern is a really quick sew plus I’ll be showing you tips and tricks to piece your quilt top in record time! I do realize that this falls during Thanksgiving for those in the United States, but I scheduled assembly during that week which gives you 2 weeks. Plenty of time! Don’t worry!
