Water Colors Quilt Pattern Wall Hanging - Tula Pink Version

When I first saw the new Deja Vu Nightshade Collection by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics, I knew I had to make something fun and special! For our Aurifil Thread August Challenge, we were challenged to use threads from our welcome packages. I knew a wall hanging with my Water Colors quilt pattern would look great, along with these amazing colors of thread!

Sometimes we have to take steps outside of our comfort zone and this challenge definitely took me out of my comfort zone. From the dark background and the straight line quilting with these various threads, it was a change for me and I LOVE IT! I chose to add the beautiful “Spider Blossom” flower print as a large border around the block and it really added so much!

I used Aurifil Variegated Thread in #4665 40-weight for the quilting around the center block. The black-white-grey mix really set the block off! I used Aurifil Thread #2479 in 50-weight in the main portion of the block which was a perfect choice! And last but not least, a small amount of Aurifil Thread #4173 50-weight quilted to frame the border print.

The “Fishnet” in Equinox print was perfect for my binding! and really framed the project perfectly! What do you think? Are you a Tula Pink lover? I am tempted to make a full quilt with this version, it’s TOO amazing!!!
